Sibbo Cyclops
– portable nystagmus goggles for bedside dizziness diagnostics

Vestibular dizziness is always accompanied by small rapid involuntary eye movements called nystagmus. Portable nystagmus goggles (often called video Frenzels or VOG), have revolutionized dizziness diagnostics by bringing nystagmus analyses out of specialized labs and directly to the patient’s bedside. Sibbo Cyclops provide a cost-effective, user-friendly alternative to stationary video nystagmography (VNG) systems.

Near infrared camera – Removal of visual fixation results in increased diagnostic accuracy

Nystagmus associated with peripheral vestibular disorders is often weakened when a patient focuses on an object. Sibbo Cyclops allow clinicians to detect nystagmus with and without visual fixation leading to more accurate diagnoses of vertigo causes. Sibbo Cyclops infrared goggles block all visible light, removing visual fixation and making even subtle nystagmus clearly visible.

Easy documentation – suitable for Dix-Hallpike and other positional vertigo tests

Portable Sibbo Cyclops goggles are highly beneficial for diagnostic tests for BPPV, vestibular neuritis, Meniere’s disease, and central conditions such as stroke or concussion. With Sibbo Cyclops tests such as Dix-Hallpike and HINTS (Head Impulse, Nystagmus, and Test of Skew) can be done and documented bedside.

Point-of-Care Testing – Telemedicine optimized dizziness diagnostics

Sibbo Cyclops goggles are lightweight and portable, enabling clinicians to diagnose dizziness instantly in the emergency department, clinic, or bedside, rather than requiring a transfer to a specialized balance lab. The goggles capture MP4 videos with replay and share functions allowing clinicians to review recordings and share them for a second opinion.

Can I use my own tablet or smartphone?

You can use all Sibbo MD devices with your own Android smartphone or tablet (iOS coming spring 2026). You need to download the Sibbo MD app from the Google Play store. However, since there are so many Android manufacturers, we cannot guarantee that the otoscope will work with every possible Android device.

How is the Ear Puffin cleaned? What if I need to disinfect it?

Sibbo Cyclops can be cleaned using medical grade cleaning wipes with applicable intended purpose (e.g. 70%-isopropanol). Use a damp cloth, do not soak. For comprehensive disinfection we recommend disinfection with Tristel Trio or UV Smart D25 devices.

Does Sibbo Cyclops record both eye?

No. Sibbo Cyclops is a “plug-and-play” nystagmus camera used to visualize the nystagmus with and without fixation. It does not give any values or measurements such as velocity, direction or amplitude.
